Hi, I just want to let anyone that is intrested that I have a large selection of poppy seeds avalible through my new

store:

https://kykeonplants.mysimplestore.com/

You will find a wide range of Papaver somniferum seeds, they are all fresh, and they are all true to name. I you want to grow the real deal give me a chance, you won’t be disappointed.

KYKEON PLANTS

This is a list of avalible seeds:

Papaver somniferum 'Afghan White'

Fantastic genuine Afghan poppy, that needs to be sown early if you want large plants, fast to germinate and to flower, strong stocky plants to 3-4 feet, large pure white flowers, one flower per plant, so pack them in tight. Flowers are followed by large fat barrel shaped pods, with a high yield, a top-quality poppy, white seeds. One of my favourites.

NOTE: Seeds need to be sown early to do well, as they will bolt if sown too late in the summer.

Papaver somniferum 'Izmir Afghan Special'

Original obtained from the Izmir Farm website that seems to have bitten the dust, he is supposed to have received directly from Afghanistan, very nice genuine Afghan poppy, good plants will reach 3-4ft in height, but mine only ever reach 2,5ft because of the short sowing to flower window that I have. The large pink and white flowers, followed by large barrel shaped pods, seeds need to be in the ground early as later sowing will bolt, high yield, a top-quality poppy, white seeds. These poppies always produce less seeds than any other poppy, hence the higher price, I always sell out before I have a new batch to sell, so if you what these seeds get them early.

Seeds need to be sown early to do well, as they will bolt if sown too late in the summer!

[Notes: Galania: Height 4 feet or less, flowers white with pink or dark pink border, size of capsule 3” x 2”, and round, oblong and flattened a little on top, colour of capsule dark green, low seed production.]

Kykeon Afghan Poppy

Got a hold of these little gems straight from Afghanistan. To 4ft in height, two to three pink and white flowers per plant, very delicate, almost like crinkled tissue paper. Pumpkin shaped, medium sized pods. Orange/white seeds. Seeds need to be sown early to do well, as they will bolt if sown too late in the summer! Very pretty poppies.

Papaver somniferum 'Kykeon White'

I singled out one pure white frilly poppy from the batch of Izmir Pink n’ White grown last summer, this poppy was larger and more vigorous than all the rest, proving to me that this poppy is more suited to my growing conditions, this has led me to sowing a small bed this year, and it has performed well, large sturdy plants that have stood up to the very variable British weather. 3’ or more in height, white frilly flowers and large barrel shaped frosted pods, if you have struggled with poppies of the same type due to variable weather like I do, give this clone a try.

Papaver somniferum 'Izmir Giganteum'

Red, white and purple blooms, 4-5” across, tall plants and gigantic oblong ribbed pods, you only tend to get one or two pods per plant.

Papaver somniferum 'ELKA/CRONE'
[White-seeded Breed Seed Poppy]

This variety is rare white seeded poppy has an intriguing story connected with it, in the mountainous area of Slovakia, people were unable to grow any nut trees to produce oil, and they bred this white-seeded poppy for the job. But eventually, when they had more trade with the outside world, they switched to using walnut oil and gave up growing the poppy; well all but one Crone named Elka living on a hill, this poppy seed was saved and named after her. It is a beauty that will produce a nice amount of seed for you to use in the kitchen. Its pods are smooth and medium sized, being bred for seed use I would have thought that the pods might not opened to let the seeds escape, some do, and some don’t, so keep this in mind if you hang them upside down to dry.  The flowers are the palest pinkish white or lavender white, although violet-flowered plants are a variant that will appear as a minority; there is great genetic diversity with this plant. Seeds are pure white through to orange-brown and have a very high oil content; plants grow to 3-4 feet.

Papaver somniferum 'Hungarian Blue'
[Bread-seed Poppy]

Hungarian Blue is a European heirloom poppy, bred to produce high quantities of seed in large closed pods, easy to harvest for bread-seed and other edible uses.

Papaver somniferum 'SOKOL'
[White Seeded Bread-seed Poppy]

Papaveraceae: vigorous plants growing to 5ft tall, pale pink with darker patches on their petals, giving a lot of seed from a small space, this is a rare white-seeded bread-seed breed, which is said to have a superior flavour. The pods do open when ripe, so if you hang them upside down to dry, you will lose your seed on the floor, I’ve tried it.

Papaver somniferum 'Zeno Morphex'
[Bread-seed Poppy]

This is a new improved bread-seed cultivar originating from Austria. This cultivar is grown for the production cooking oil. In addition to low-morphine content, this cultivar is said to be completely winter-hardy.

Papaver somniferum
'British Pharmaceutical #1 Oxfordshire'

This is a pharmaceutical strain picked from a field in Oxfordshire.Fast to germinate, uniformly growing around 4ft tall. one of the quickest to flower that I have grown, only a single flower per plant, growth and flowers very slimier to that of the Taz poppies, neat serrated leaves, and smooth large frosted egg-shaped pods. Seeds originally collected from pods from a field in Oxfordshire by a friend, back in 2011, sadly most of the seeds in the pods were a little undeveloped and failed to germinate, but I did manage to grow three plants in 2012 and save some viable seed, so I was able to grow a nice amount of seed.

Papaver somniferum 'Burma Giants'

Bought these under the impression that they were the same are the Burma Golden Triangle poppies that I have grown before, and can’t seem to resurrect from the dead. This poppy turns out to be something different. These are fast, strong growing plants. Said to be able grow to 10ft, but my plants only grow between 4-5ft. One flower per plant, they have large pastel coloured flowers, in reds and purples. Flowers are followed by large elongated ribbed pods. Great poppy!!!

Papaver somniferum 'China Pink O.P.'

This charming little poppy was sourced from the place as the China Blue and China Red, growing around 2-3ft, it seems to be a little slower to get started than most, taking a few weeks longer to mature. The flowers are very pretty and come in pink and red, and every shade in-between, followed by small round pods and small brown seeds. A nice poppy but could prove to be a little fickle in bad weather and with late sowings. Will happily seed it's self around the garden. Rare and defiantly worth a go.

Papaver somniferum 'China White' O.P.

Papaveraceae: This is a white seeded, white flowered poppy, plants grow around 3-4ft tall, and produce only one large round to oblong waxy seed-head per plant, this plant will perform well if sown early, later sowings can produce poor plants.

Papaver somniferum 'China Red O.P.'

I know nothing about the origin of this poppy other than its named China red, very strong fast-growing plants to about 3-4 feet high, late to flower, lots and lots of flowers and pods per plant, which are large red or pink with dark basal spots, medium sized smooth round pods, which produce a fantastic about of seeds.

Papaver somniferum 'Hen & Chicks'

This is an old form of ornamental poppy grown for the curious seed pods, each main pod is surrounded by masses of smaller pods giving the impression of a mother hen and chicks. Reaching around 80cm in height. The bees go mad for this one.

Papaver somniferum
'Hungarian Pharmaceutical #1 Extaz'

THIS IS ONE OF THREE PHARMACEUTICAL STRAIN POPPIES ORIGINALLY FROM HUNGARY.

Fast to germinate and moderately fast to flower, strong plants to six feet or more in height, large flowers white with purple base spots through to purple with darker purple base spots, large ribbed pumpkin shaped pods, like the other two in flower alone, very nice poppy.

Papaver somniferum 'Kykeon Indian White'

Papaveraceae: This poppy came from the same source as the Indian white ‘Raja’. The seeds of this poppy have been sitting in a bag since 2010, simply marked, ‘Gift’, and are probably ‘Raja’, but because they had no name I have claimed them as my own. Pure white flowers, that are mostly frilly, and only one flower per plant, these are followed by barrel shaped pods.

Like all Indian poppies that I have grown, they never grow very large for me, the tallest this year has only reached 12”. Indian whites need to be sown in late summer/autumn, and need a mild winter to slowly establish its self before spring. Good plants are said to reach 3-4ft in height, and are always the earliest P. somniferum to flower.

Papaver somniferum 'Raja'

Papaveraceae: I haven't grown this poppy since 2012, back then they bolted because I got them in too late, so I ripped them out and re-sowed the patch with another poppy. So, thought I would give them ago again this year. They are still a bit small, but I should get a decent crop of seed from them. Said to grow to 3-4ft. Pure white flowers, that are mostly frilly, and only one flower per plant, these are followed by barrel shaped pods.

Papaver somniferum 'Izmir Bush Poppy'

Grows to about 2 feet, lots of small pods. This is one of three verity of Izmir bush poppy that grow from a packet of seed bought from Izmir farm. A rare poppy, pretty, and very productive, and very hardy. This variety is the hardest poppy I have grown, it will survive more frost and fungus attacks than any other, it’s tough as old boots. If you can sow them in the autumn and over winter them, plants can be covered in flowers.

Papaver somniferum 'Star of Persia'

Impressively germinated within one week, and fast to flower, late sowing and performed well with it, growing between three to four feet in height, nice frilly pure white flowers, as frilly poppies go this is one of the finest.

Papaver somniferum 'Starry Night'

Fast to germinate, one of the first to be sown and one of the last to flower. Light green fleshly serrated leaves. Flowers almost black/purple with pink tipped petals, on close inspection the flowers shimmer in the light, plants grow four to five feet tall. A joy to see, but only one to three flowers per plant so plant the on mass, magical, unusual and rare.

Papaver somniferum

'Izmir Tasmanian Special'

This is the Izmir special bought from the now defunct Izmir Farm in Canada, allegedly imported straight from a poppy farm in Tasmania, out of all the Tasmanian poppies I have grown to date, this one seems in be one of the most genuine, this is without a doubt a supra pharmaceutical poppy, plants grow to around 6 feet and produce a light pink to almost white flower in about 60 days from germination. Each plant will only produce one to three gigantic ribbed oval pods; some of the pods are almost completely black in colour.

NOTE:
I had to buy these in, and the pods or a slightly different shape.
